Walking into Gracie at the Santa Barbara Harbor feels like stepping into a place that already knows how to celebrate.
With the ocean stretching out in front of you and the mountains framing the horizon, it’s the kind of setting that instantly slows you down and makes any meal feel like an occasion.
During the holidays especially, Gracie hits that sweet spot between elegant and inviting, making it just as fitting for an intimate dinner as it is for a larger gathering with friends or colleagues.
The space itself, at 107 Harbor Way, is stunning without trying too hard.
The art deco-inspired U-shaped bar anchors the room, paired with a handmade chandelier crafted with glass imported from Venice.
Velvet bar stools, warm brass fixtures, and thoughtful details throughout give the restaurant a timeless feel while still feeling fresh and modern.
It is polished and cozy all at once, which is harder to pull off than it looks.
The menu leans into coastal flavors with global touches, and every dish we tried confirmed why Gracie has quickly become one of the harbor’s standout dining spots.
The salmon crudo was bright and beautifully balanced, light yet full of flavor and the perfect way to begin the evening.
The sweet potato croquettes were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and deeply comforting. They disappeared from the table quickly, which always feels like the best endorsement.
The short ribs were the clear showstopper and are easily the best short ribs in Santa Barbara. Tender, rich and cooked to perfection, they are the kind of dish you think about long after the meal is over.
The experience was made even better by our waiter, who was genuinely kind and attentive, making us feel taken care of without ever being intrusive. That level of service added to the ease and enjoyment of the entire evening.
Dessert sealed the deal. The espresso brownie was decadent without being overwhelming, and the cream on top was my favorite part, adding the perfect balance and richness to each bite.

It was a thoughtful, satisfying ending to a meal that felt polished from start to finish.
Gracie is more than just a beautiful waterfront restaurant. It is a place that understands how atmosphere, food and service come together to create a memorable experience.
I am already looking forward to going back to try the burger and exploring more of the menu.
Whether you are planning a holiday celebration, a private event, or simply an evening out, it is the kind of spot that feels special the moment you sit down and still lingers with you afterward.
