Tucked away inside the Santa Barbara Public Market downtown, Three Monkeys is a hidden gem that consistently delivers bold flavors and comforting dishes.

This spot, at 38 W. Victoria St., has become one of my favorite places to indulge in unforgettable comfort food, and the warm and friendly staff make every visit special.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or settling in for a cozy dinner, Three Monkeys offers a culinary experience that keeps me coming back for more.

Here are my must-try dishes:

Popcorn Tofu

You don’t have to be a tofu lover to fall for this dish. Three Monkeys’ popcorn tofu is crispy, golden and perfectly seasoned, with a satisfying crunch that gives way to a tender, flavorful interior.

Pair it with one of the tangy dipping sauces for a snack that’s as addictive as it is delicious.

Sticky Rice with Mango

A Thai-inspired classic, the sticky rice with mango is the perfect balance of sweet and creamy. The rice is soft and slightly chewy, complemented by the fresh, juicy mango and a drizzle of luscious coconut sauce.

It’s the kind of dessert that feels indulgent yet light enough to savor after a hearty meal.

Coconut Bread Pudding

If comfort food were distilled into one dish, it would be the coconut bread pudding at Three Monkeys.

This dessert is rich, warm and infused with just the right amount of coconut flavor. Each bite is a perfect mix of custardy bread and toasted coconut, making it an absolute must-try for dessert enthusiasts.

Chicken Skewers

Perfectly grilled and seasoned, the chicken skewers are another highlight. The smoky, charred edges bring out the natural flavors of the meat, and they’re served with a side of dipping sauce that adds a punch of sweetness and spice.

It’s a simple dish, but Three Monkeys executes it flawlessly.

Banh Mi Sandwiches

The banh mi sandwiches at Three Monkeys are a beautiful fusion of textures and flavors.

The crusty baguette is filled with tender meat, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs and a creamy, spicy spread. Each bite is a harmony of tangy, savory and spicy elements that will leave you craving more.

Why Three Monkeys Stands Out

Three Monkeys isn’t just about the food. It’s the kind of place that feels like home. The staff is always welcoming, ready to guide you through their menu or just chat about their favorite dishes.

Every visit is a reminder of why this spot is such a local treasure. Whether you’re sharing plates with friends or treating yourself to a solo meal, it’s impossible to leave without feeling satisfied.

Comfort Food in Every Bite

For me, Three Monkeys is more than just a restaurant, but a place to unwind, savor and enjoy some of the best comfort food Santa Barbara has to offer.

Whether I’m digging into the crispy popcorn tofu or finishing the meal with the decadent coconut bread pudding, I always leave happy and full.

If you haven’t stopped by Three Monkeys yet, you’re missing out on one of Santa Barbara’s best-kept secrets. So the next time you’re at the Public Market, make sure to grab a plate — or three!
