Crane Country Day School invites the community to the annual Crane Country Fair, 10 a.m.-3 p.m Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1795 San Leandro Lane, Montecito.

For some 25 years, the K-8 independent school community event has provided the fair for all ages.

Activities back this year include a variety of sports inflatables, the cupcake walk, a climbing wall, sack races, sponge toss, face painting booth, and arts and crafts, duck pond and a petting zoo.

Crane’s parent organization Families for Crane runs the food and activity booths, and alumni return to campus to assist with activities.

The Big Daddy’s BBQ will serve hotdogs and hamburgers, and the Healthy Hut will offer items from the Food Liaison.

Other refreshments will include Kona Ice snow cones, Rincon Coffee, lemonade, popcorn and pretzels. The Country Kitchen & Market will sell home-baked goods like cherry pies, jams, and whimsically decorated cakes, as well as fresh produce.

While the event as a whole is an example of the school’s value, Put We Before Me, the student-led Coyote Cares booth exemplifies this with the school value, Cultivate Kindness.

Middle school students in the service learning elective will have Happy-Gram postcards ready for fairgoers to write positive notes to place in the “Crane Post Office” box.

“The Coyote Cares Elective is excited to spread cheer and allow for students in different grades to share uplifting words of encouragement to another community member,” said Crane teacher Alexa Hughes. “This is just one small example of how we can ‘Cultivate Kindness’ within our communities.”

Admission is free, but tickets or a wristband must be purchased to participate in games and activities.

Fair sponsors include Jake & Jones, K. Frank, Montecito Plastic Surgery, Montesano Group, Rilascio Chiropractic, Rusty’s Pizza Parlor, Santa Barbara Trapeze, Sol Wave Water, Spacebase, and Toy Crazy.
