Mia Reveles gunned down a runner at the plate from center field to preserve a shutout and contributed at the plate with three hits as Dos Pueblos beat Righetti 4-0 in a non-league softball game on Thursday.
Kaitlyn Ashby, who pitched five innings in relief of starter Georgia Wilson, allowed just two hits.
“Our defense did the job today, especially our middles, Bella Nuno who turned a slick double play and Katelyn Lisi who made a great play in the hole at second to rob Righetti of a hit,” said coach Mike Gerken.
The DP offense got 10 hits off Righetti’s pitcher.
“This was a good win today against a quality pitcher,” said Gerken. “To get 10 hits off of her was an accomplishment. We had some players making adjustments at-bat to at-bat that led to hits.”
Reveles went 3 for 4 with a triple. Summer Reveles drove in Reveles with a single for the fourth run in the fourth inning.
The Chargers took advantage of walks and scored a run in the first and two in the second.
Righetti threatened in the second with a two-out double. The next batter singled to center but Reveles threw a strike to catcher Riley Monroe to nail the runner at the plate.
Dos Pueblos, 6-3 overall, plays host to San Marcos today at 3:30 p.m.
