The Dos Pueblos LL Junior Braves triumphed over the Goleta Valley South LL Junior Dodgers in the District 63 North Division Championship by a score of 9-8 on Friday.

The matchup featured the top two teams from the 10-team interleague division from DPLL, GVSLL and Carpinteria Little League.

The Dodgers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the second inning, with one run coming in the opening frame and three crossing the plate in the second.

Dos Pueblos got a run back in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Charlie Douglas.

In the top of the third, the Braves got out of the inning with a double play and carried that momentum over to their bats, scoring five runs in the bottom half.

The biggest swing of the inning came on a bases-loaded double by Trey Fewell to take a 6-4 lead into the fourth.

The Dodgers battled back to knot the game up at 6-6 with a rally in the fourth capped off by an RBI double from Jake Arias.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when Connor Regetz came up clutch for Dos Pueblos with a two-run single to score Jonah Pepper and Fewell and capture an 8-6 lead.

As they have all game, the Dodgers fought in the top of the sixth and tied the game up once again with an RBI single from Gunner Martinez and an RBI groundout off the bat of Owen Coffman.

In the bottom of the sixth, Dos Pueblos’ Eli Benelli was hit by a pitch, made his way to third base and scored on a wild pitch to take a 9-8 lead heading into the final inning.

That run proved to be the game-winning one, as Douglas tossed a scoreless seventh to clinch the victory.

The win capped off an undefeated season for the Dos Pueblos Braves, who ended the year with an overall record of 16-0-2.

The Braves will now host the Ventura South Division Champion Santa Paula White Sox on Saturday, June 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Girsh Park.

The DPLL Junior Braves roster includes players Eli Benelli, Titus Bodenhamer, William Checketts, Charlie Douglas, Trey Fewell, Seth Orozco, Jonah Pepper, Connor Regetz, Conor Saunders, Patrick Saunders, Jack Sparrow and Jacob Vargas.  

The Braves are managed by Jacob Pepper with assistant coaches Peter Benelli, Scott Douglas and Alex Saunders.
