The Downtown Santa Barbara Improvement Association invites residents and visitors to a variety of cultural events, exhibits and celebrations in July.

Some highlights are:
● Asian American Film Series (6 p.m. Fridays July 18 and 25), presented by Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation at Alhecama Theatre, featuring documentary films.
● Caroline Pardilla’s Margarita Time Book Release Party at Shaker Mill (3 p.m. Saturday, July 12), featuring craft cocktails.
● Liverpool Legends The Complete Beatles Experience, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12: Grammy-nominated Liverpool Legends brings the magic of The Beatles to the Lobero Theatre, covering their career from early hits to psychedelic classics.
● Learn To Make a Jelly Roll Rug (July 12-13): Join Andrew Rawls for a two-day class and learn to create a custom rug using a set of batik jelly roll strips. All materials are included.
● Knitting Block Party, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15: Knit one block a month for nine months. A new block will be released each month by The Knit Shop, culminating in a seaming party in October.
● Boogie for Our Bodies Summer Pop-Up, 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19: Planned Parenthood California Central Coast hosts a mermaid-themed daytime disco at the Wildcat Lounge with dancing, drag performances, activities, and a costume contest.
● The Good Good Show, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19: Catch top comedians from Comedy Central, Late Night, HBO, and Netflix at this stand-up comedy show.
● The Oracle Project: Night of House – Alcohol Free Nightlife; 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19: Enjoy an alcohol-free evening of conversation, and dance at Yoga Soup, featuring a cacao circle, interactive experiences, and deep house beats by DJ Beachball.

Ongoing opportunities:
● Free Old Town Walking Tour, 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22: Explore history of Old Town Santa Barbara, its architecture, and iconic landmarks. Reservations required.
● Sunken Garden Summer Cinema Series, 8:30 p.m. Fridays: Enjoy classic dog-themed films every Friday under the stars in the iconic Courthouse Sunken Garden.
● Karaoke Fridays on State at Longoria Wines, 6:30 p.m. Fridays: Sing with El Karaoke at Longoria Wines’ State Street location.
● Masq(p)arade! Call-Out for Performers, deadline Aug. 22: Musicians and performance groups can submit proposals for piano-based, masked performances at the Pianos on State painted pianos.
● Creative Writing Night at Casa Agria, 7 p.m. second Monday of month. Unleash your creativity in collaboration with Lowstate Writing Salon, exploring the theme of Emergency.
