Daniel Ramirez has been hired as a director of strategic initiatives by the Downtown Organization of Santa Barbara.

“I am pleased to share that Daniel Ramirez has joined our team in a full-time position as director of strategic initiatives,” said Robin Elander, the Downtown Organization’s executive director “Daniel has a significant depth of experience in our community that will lend well to the position.”

He will be focusing efforts on downtown economic development, as well as new programming and initiatives to support downtown vitality and business engagement. 

A native to Santa Barbara, Ramire attended San Marcos High School and Santa Barbara City College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in cinema, television and arts, and two master’s degrees in public administration, and in music business administration.

Ramirez has experience in various industries such as live entertainment and broadcasting, business, event production and education. He was the emergency preparedness administrator for the Santa Barbara County Office of Arts & Culture, 2020-22, and the house manager for the Lobero Theatre Foundation, 2013-20.

He has held positions as radio station producer with Rincon Broadcasting Corp. and radio station manager for KZAA at La Casa de la Raza. He has worked in food and beverage sales as a business development consultant for Pacific Coast Produce and has relationships with a number of downtown restaurants. 

Ramirez also has worked with youth and youth at risk as a teacher assistant for Community Day School, La Questa, and El Puente Community School, and as a program leader for the A-OK elementary after school program, in all spanning nearly a decade in education.

Ramirez has served in several volunteer positions as a board member in local organizations as Youth Oriented Services chair with the Community Development and Human Services Committee, Youth and Family Services of the YMCA, and has been a football coach with the Santa Barbara Youth Football League.
