Laguna Blanca School will present The Gift of Failure, How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed, a free talk with Jessica Lahey, a New York Times best-selling author, teacher and mom, 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Spaulding Theatre on the school’s Hope Ranch campus.

Modern parenting has become defined by an unprecedented level of overprotectiveness and, according Lahey, this overparenting has the potential to both ruin children’s confidence and undermine their education.

Lahey champions failure as a crucial element of long-term success. She will discuss how parents can motivate their child to take ownership of their education and help them to develop emotional and intellectual resilience.
