WeaponUp, the Sword Yoga brand founded by Sabina Storberg, is joining Santa Barbara mobile bookstore All Booked Up to host Fight Like a Girl, a free women’s wellness fair and breast cancer awareness event, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Paseo Nuevo.

The event includes two Sword Yoga classes (a practice blending vinyasa with the tai chi straight sword), plus local businesses and organizations, onsite breast cancer screening, and resources focused on women’s physical and mental health open to the public.

All proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center.

The Fight Like a Girl fair falls during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, where proceeds go directly to cancer research and treatment.

“Sword Yoga is very visual: women bringing swords to the fight where being a hero doesn’t mean living without fear, but choosing to fight forward anyway,” event organizers said.

“During Sword Yoga, women bring swords to the fight where being a hero doesn’t mean living without fear, but choosing to fight forward anyway. It focuses on female community and empowerment, with women moving through a shared practice together in support of each other,” they said.
