Five people were injured on Friday night after a vehicle went off the roadway and into a ditch in a remote area east of Santa Maria. 

Just before 8 p.m., Santa Barbara County and Santa Maria firefighters along with California Highway Patrol officers and Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the single-vehicle rollover crash on the 700 block of Tepusquet Road, county fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said. 

The vehicle landed on its roof in a ditch about 50 feet off the roadway, according to CHP emergency dispatch reports. 

Six people were in the vehicle, but five patients were transported by American Medical Response ambulances to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Safechuck added.

The crash occurred approximately 3 miles south of Highway 166, according to CHP.
