The Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara’s Scottish shows, Nov. 7-9, will feature Hall of Fame fiddler Alasdair Fraser and cellist Natalie Haas, whose music has been heard worldwide, in major movies, and in shows with Grammy-winning artists.

“We’re so excited to have these amazing players back with us,” said Adam Phillips, Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara (FOSB) founder/music director. “They appeared here in 2022, and we had such a great time, we asked them to come back.”

The three shows will feature traditional Scottish tunes, including “Flower of Scotland,” “Wild Mountain Thyme” and “The Sailor’s Wife,” along with more than a dozen others.

The show continues the ongoing FOSB tradition of blending classic folk instruments and music with orchestral strings in a unique, stirring, and soul-stirring blend.

The performances are:

Friday Nov. 7, 7 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara; Saturday Nov. 8, 7 p.m. in the Marjorie Luke Theater at Santa Barbara Junior High; and Sunday, Nov. 9, 4 p.m. at St. Marks-in-the-Valley in Los Olivos.

“If you have never seen one of our shows, this would be a great way to join our music-loving community,” Phillips said. “With talents like Alasdair and Natalie joining our more than 30 local, wonderful musicians, it will be three magical shows.”
