The Santa Barbara Chamber Players invites music lovers of all ages to a free children’s concert, 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 909 N. La Cumbre Road.

The event is designed to inspire the next generation of musicians through a fun, interactive, and family-friendly program.

Highlighting the concert will be a performance of “Tubby the Tuba,” played by Gene Pokorny, principal tuba of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and one of the world’s most celebrated brass musicians.

With humor and heart, “Tubby the Tuba tells” the story of a tuba who dreams of playing the melody — an uplifting tale for children about believing in oneself and the joy of music.

The program also includes orchestral favorites:
• Rossini’s “William Tell Overture,” known for its iconic gallop made famous by cartoons and pop culture.
• Selections from “Star Wars” by John Williams, a cinematic score with epic themes and memorable melodies.

After the concert, children will be able to try different musical instruments to see what they would like to play in future music programs.

No tickets or reservations are required to attend, but families are encouraged to arrive early for best seating.

The Santa Barbara Chamber Players is a community-based orchestra committed to making classical music accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for audiences of all ages.
