The city of Santa Barbara’s Sustainability & Resilience Department and MarBorg Industries are hosting a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at Santa Barbara City College’s Lot 2-C (La Playa Stadium parking lot).

Santa Barbara city residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous materials.

Note that this event is exclusively for Santa Barbara residents; no business waste will be accepted.

“Our household hazardous waste collection events last year saw great community involvement, with residents safely disposing of a remarkable 33,800 pounds of hazardous materials” said Julie Lawrence, Clean Community manager.

“By taking part in these free collection events, residents help keep hazardous materials from ending up in the landfill or being otherwise improperly disposed of, which can pose risks to both the community and public health,” she said.

Materials accepted:
• Antifreeze
• Batteries
• Used motor oil/filters
• Paint (latex, oil-based, stains, etc.)
• Fluorescent light bulbs
• Cleaning supplies
• Garden chemicals
