Professional genealogist Kelli Bergheimer will discusss Getting Started in Genealogy: What I Wish I Would Have Known When I Started at next virtual monthly meeting of the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society, Saturday, Jan. 15. The free meeting will be held via Zoom video conferencing.
The meeting will include Virtual Special Interest Groups at 9:30 a.m., a brief business meeting at 10:30 a.m., followed by Bergheimer’s presentation at 11 a.m.
Bergheimer will offer tips on how to get started in genealogy; how to organize what you know; tools for success, such as pedigree charts and family history software; where to go and how to avoid common assumptions that can lead you astray.

Bergheimer is a writer, teacher, editor, and national genealogical speaker. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master of education in curriculum and unstruction; and a master of business management. She is a math and science editorial director for Blue Kayak, a K-12 textbook company, and works as a DNA report editor for Legacy Tree Genealogists.
