The Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council (JJCC) and the Juvenile Justice Realignment Subcommittee will receive a presentation and vote to approve the 2022 Juvenile Justice Realignment Plan, the plan required by Senate Bill (SB) 823. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12 via Zoom.

Effective July 1, 2021, SB823 prohibited the commitment of additional youth to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), and realigned responsibility for those youth to the counties.

The legislation also required a plan, “ … describing the facilities, programs, placements, services, supervision, and reentry strategies that are needed to provide appropriate rehabilitation at and supervision services for the youth who are realigned from the state Division of Juvenile Justice …”
