During a free community lecture on Oct. 9, Lompoc Valley Medical Center (LVMC) hospitalist Dr. Dushyant Viswanathan will discuss the crucial role intestines play in the immune system and overall organ health. The talk will take place 6-8 p.m. in LVMC’s Ocean’s Seven Café, 1515 E. Ocean Ave.

Dr. Viswanathan, co-founder of V2 Health hospitalist service, is dual board certified in internal medicine and integrative medicine.

Dr. Viswanathan, who is nicknamed Dr. DV, will discuss overall organ health related to the brain, liver, skin, heart, kidneys and lungs.

“Understanding these connections can help lead to better overall health and decrease your cancer risk,” he said.

Dr. Viswanathan is also chief medical officer of The Columbia Center for Integrative Medicine. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biologic sciences and philosophy from the University of California at Irvine and his doctorate of medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine.

He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at San Joaquin General Hospital.

The lecture is part of the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation’s Community Education Lecture Series.
