Allan Hancock College’s student choir will open the holiday season with a festive all-ages concert, performing a selection of popular holiday songs, 7 p.m. Nov. 23 in Boyd Concert Hall (bldg. F) at the college’s Santa Maria campus.
“The students are very excited about the concert and the choir has never sounded better,” said Hancock music professor and choir director Nichole Dechaine. “We can’t wait to bring some holiday cheer to our community.”
The concert will include arrangements of songs such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” and “White Christmas.”
The audience will be invited to participate in a carol sing-along at the conclusion of the performance.
In the past, the choir performed this annual concert in off-campus venues. This year they will sing at Boyd Concert Hall, which has become a hub for music, dance and other fine arts-related events on the college’s Santa Maria campus.
“Having Boyd Hall to perform in is an absolute dream come true,” Dechaine said. “The space is more accessible to our students and community members and has wonderful acoustics for choral singing.”
The performance is open to all students, staff, and community members. Tickets cost $10 each or $8 when purchased in bundles of four or more.
