Dos Pueblos scored a pair of second-half goals on Saturday to topple Moorpark 3-1 on the road.
Hayden Carlson found the net 15 minutes into the second half and 10 minutes later, Stoney Yoos hustled for a loose ball and was fouled in the box. Kaiser Kurexi converted the PK to make it 3-1. The Chargers are 4-1 on the year.
“In addition to Hayden Carlson‘s goal, he had some fantastic crosses on corners all evening and was beating his opponents on every possession to earn the coaches game MVP,” said DP coach Matt York. “We came in to Moorpark facing a quality opponent. We were able to get a goal off of a corner kick by Carlson who played it to the second post to our center back Carlos Santiago who was able to direct it to his fellow center back Robert Montalvo for the 1-0 lead.”
Moorpark tied it 1-1 on a direct free kick with less than two minutes to go in the first half.
“Our boys came out strong again in the second half and working hard to try and get the lead,” said York. “15 minutes into the second half, senior captain center defensive midfielder CJ Rodriguez splits the defense and finds Carlson on an overlapping run. He makes a good first touch heading to goal and blasts it past the goalkeeper. Then about 10 minutes later, we finish the scoring on a great hustle play by Stoney Yoos, who worked for a loose ball to earn a foul and a penalty kick. Kaiser Kurexi calmly sat over the ball and drilled it in the back of the net for the third goal.”
The Chargers will host Channel Islands on Monday at 5 p.m.
