DAWG (Dog Adoption & Welfare Group) has joined forces with animal shelters across the country to find every pet a home on Saturday, Aug. 17, and Sunday, Aug. 18, during the national Clear the Shelters Event.

There will be a $28 adoption donation to adopt any dog over six months of age during the two-day promotion. DAWG, at 5480 Overpass Road, Santa Barbara, will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days.

The $28 adoption donation is in place to recognize and celebrate DAWG’s 28 years of service to the Santa Barbara community.

Hundreds of shelters across the country participate in Clear the Shelters event to help find loving homes for animals in need. DAWG strives to keep its promise to give each dog the loving care it needs until it finds the home it deserves.

Each of the shelter’s dogs has been spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has been examined by the shelter veterinarian. DAWG’s normal adoption application process is in effect during the event.

Also participating in the national event in Santa Barbara County are Santa Ynez Humane Society, Santa Barbara County Animals Services, Santa Barbara Humane Society and Santa Maria Humane Society.
