Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD) invites junior high school families and the entire community to the 2023 High School Program Showcase, 5-7 p.m. Nov. 29 at Earl Warren Showgrounds.

The event brings together all of the SBUSD school academies and programs to give eighth-grade students and their parents the opportunity to see the different options available in high schools.

The programs provide students with insights to various professions, and hands-on learning experience to prepare them for their future callings.

During the day, SBUSD eighth-graders will have a chance to attend the showcase. The students can visit various booths and interact with students and staff representatives from each of the different academy exhibits, career technical education programs, and visual and performing arts programs from Santa Barbara, San Marcos, Dos Pueblos, and Alta Vista high schools.

Families can connect with and learn from current students enrolled in diverse programs such as engineering, architecture, theater, multimedia arts and design, computer science, and health science.

The purpose of the SBUSD High School Showcase is to ensure that prospective high school students and their families have equitable access to information about the various articulated pathways to take.

“I believe that when families see the remarkable achievements of our high school students and the incredible resources at their disposal, they will see the potential that exists within our district for their students,” said Superintendent Hilda Maldonado.

“We hope that this showcase will encourage parents and prospective high school students to make the best decisions for their educational journey,” she said.

Parking and admission to the showcase are free.
