Where there’s no compassion, lawlessness will follow! That’s a certainty folks.

This present world wreaks with lawlessness. Evil hearts, evil minds and evil thoughts — all kinds of evil surround us.

God cannot be pleased with what we are experiencing in the world these days, yet we must realize there’s nothing new under the sun.

To many, this lawlessness may seem quite harmless and distant, but evil is truly running rampant.

There’s no compassion in the hearts of many in government. There’s no compassion in the hearts of many in business. There’s no compassion in the hearts of many families. There’s no compassion in the hearts of many leaders of religious and other not-for-profit organizations.

Yes, there is good happening, but at what expense?

When our leaders spew anger from the podium, we need to realize they are not in touch with what’s best for the common people.

When party preference takes priority over what’s good for our country, our leaders are missing the mark of what has made America great for nearly 250 years.

As corporations produce marketing campaigns to reach fringe markets and churches do likewise, those in leadership are out of touch with God’s Plan for humankind.

He is not pleased!

Throughout the creation process, God repeatedly said “It is good.” So what went wrong?

Satan (in the form of a serpent) entered the Garden of Eden and enticed Adam and Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit.

That fruit, which came from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, opened their eyes to a totally new dimension of life and their and our relationships to our Creator was sadly severed.

The Apostle Paul dealt with this subject in depth in his letter to the Christian Church in Rome. I suggest you sit down and read his words of instruction to the early church, which still has immense value to Christians today.

If you don’t have a personal relationship with Christ, I doubt reading this letter will convince you of the depravity of humankind in those days and today. Then again, perhaps the Holy Spirit will use this treatise to open your eyes and draw you near to Christ.

As a fairly new follower of Christ in 1985, I was greatly inspired by this Letter to the Romans. With proper teaching, my faith grew immensely as our Singles Bible Study group dug deeply into the practical principles and precepts conveyed by Paul.

I challenge you to heed the words found in Romans 12:1-2:

“Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

In closing, let’s end with God’s bottom line. He wants all to voluntarily come to Him and follow His good, pleasing and perfect will.

You will not be disappointed, but it requires you to surrender your will to Him from this day forward.

His enduring love will consume you and give you a peace that can only come from a personal relationship with His indwelling Spirit!
