Jim Lemon, KEYT news director for the past 10 years, has been named the new general manager of News-Press & Gazette of California, which oversees the management of News Channel 3, News Channel 11, and News Channel 12.
“Jim has proven himself as an accomplished leader and critical architect in our content strategy in Santa Barbara,” said Mike Meara, NPG Broadcasting president. “He will take these skills to build on and expand the success we have built over the years there. I am excited about our future in Santa Barbara.”
Lemon is taking over the role after former general manager Mark Danielson was selected to lead the ABC affiliate station in Salt Lake City.
“I’ve been fortunate here to work with GM Mark Danielson the past decade as we dedicated ourselves to serve our community,” Lemon said in a press release. “It’s a pleasure and a privilege to continue the great work of our entire team over the past decade. We are fortunate to have such a dynamic team dedicated to serving our viewers, readers, and customers.”
According to the press release, Lemon earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arizona in Tucson, and began his reporting and anchor career in Arizona.
Lemon has held similar management roles, with over 25 years of experience, in news departments across California, Hawaii, Kansas, and Wisconsin.
