Laguna Blanca Girls Volleyball was swept by Rio Hondo Prep on Friday at home by scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-14.
“Despite the end result there are a number of positives to take away from this match,” head coach Jason Donnelly said. “We saw a great serving team and that is tough to replicate in practice.
“Our team gained some great experience against a quality opponent.”
Sarah Woodhouse led the Owls with nine kills and three aces while Sophie Ottie had three kills and a pair of blocks on her own. Chloe Gidney, meanwhile, was playing opposite hitter and took solid swings on both pins, according to Donnelly.
The Owl head coach believes his team has an opportunity to grow following this matchup.
“We had our chances, particularly in the 2nd, but just couldn’t sustain any momentum,” Donnelly said. “We will definitely be an improved team after this loss.”
The improvement will be showcased right away, as Laguna Blanca (1-1) will compete in the Silver Division of Bishop Diego’s Cardinal Classic on Saturday.
