The Santa Maria Public Library is partnering with Safety Consulting Services, LLC, to offer a free hands-on class called Stop the Bleed, 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 in Shepard Hall, 421 S. McClelland St.

Scott Hunter, a retired firefighter and certified Emergency Medical Technician, will teach participants how to become “immediate responders” in cases of emergency.

Spanish translation services will be available.
