For community members who want to learn the healthy ranges for cholesterol and blood pressure, or would like to become better informed about the effects of diet and lifestyle choices on heart health, Sansum Clinic is offering a new class, Heart Health: Nutrition & Lifestyle Tips, led by registered dietitian nutritionist Christina Archer.

The program will be held 5:15-6:45 p.m Monday, Feb. 17, at 317 W. Pueblo St., Santa Barbara, in the lower level multi-purpose room.

Participants will learn how to lower their cholesterol and blood pressure, and how to best choose the right diet plan. Archer will explain which specific foods and dietary patterns have the greatest impact on heart health. Attendees will discuss which changes beyond exercise can most improve quality of life.

“Changing your diet can be hard and often times confusing. This interactive class is meant to provide clear and easy-to-follow guidance,” Archer said.

Archer holds a masters degree in nutritional science, is certified in integrative and functional nutrition by the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, and is a member of both the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine Practice Group.

Future dates when the talk will be repeated are April 20, June 15, Aug. 17 and Oct. 17. The meetings are open to anyone in the community with a $10 program fee in cash or check at the door.

No one will be turned away regardless of ability to pay, however, space is limited and advance registration is required by calling Sansum Clinic Health & Wellness Directory 805-829-0909 or by registering online at www.SansumClinic.org/health-and-wellness.
