The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC-SB) opens its fall season with an online networking event called How to Hone your Elevator Pitch and Practice It, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8.
Because a polished, brief self-introduction is a powerful tool for showing off your skills and talents, Kymberlee Weil, a Santa Barbara-based speaker coach and storyteller, will offer advice for how to craft your story into a 30-60 second “elevator pitch.”
Following the brief tutorial, AWC-SB members and guests will move into breakout rooms where they can practice their pitches and network with other communicators. The event is free for AWC-SB members. Members of the public can attend for a $10 fee. To register for the event, visit http://awcsb.org/hone-and-practice-your-elevator-pitch/.
“We have an exciting series of programs planned for this fall,” said Lisa Osborn, AWC-SB president. “Our board has been working hard to line up topics and speakers that will help our members achieve professional excellence as communicators.”
Board members for 2021-22 are Lisa Danhi, Christine DiBerardino, Leslie Dinaberg, Carolyn Jabs, Lauren Bianchi Klemann, Monica Kunz, Lisa Osborn, Erica Schweitzer and Joan Tapper.
AWC-Santa Barbara is part of a national organization that has been encouraging women to develop their skills as communicators for more than a century. AWC-SB has monthly meetings that help people at all stages of their careers stay current with key developments in the technology, practice, psychology and ethics of communications.
