Chabad of Santa Barbara and Chabad of Montecito invite the community to An Evening of Klezmer & Song, 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22 at Alhecama Theatre, 215a E Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara.

The program features the Los Angeles–based band Kings of Klezmer. Klezmer music, with its joyful rhythms and heartfelt melodies, is rooted in Jewish celebration and spirit.

“Klezmer music has a way of cutting straight to the soul,” said Rabbi Chaim Loschak of Chabad of Montecito. “It’s not just a concert, it’s an experience that speaks to people, whether they grew up with it or are hearing it for the first time.”

“It’s more than a concert,” said Rabbi Mendel Loschak of Chabad of S. Barbara. “It’s a celebration of the Rebbe’s enduring impact and a heartfelt honor to my father, Rabbi Yosef Loschak, whose legacy of warmth and dedication continues to inspire our community.”

The evening includes light refreshments and a brief interlude with video tributes honoring the Lubavitcher Rebbe and Rabbi Yosef Loschak, whose 11th yahrtzeit (the anniversary date of his death) is being marked.

Early bird tickets are $18 through May 31; general admission is $25 starting June 1. Tickets and details at www.sbchabad.org/klezmer.

Rabbi Chaim Loschak was born and raised in Santa Barbara and currently serves the local community as rabbi at Chabad of Montecito. The opinions expressed are his own.
