Authorities have released the name of the motorcyclist killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday night at the western edge of Lompoc.
Joshua Joseph Poynter, 40, of Lompoc died in the crash, according to Raquel Zick, spokeswoman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau.
Personnel from the Lompoc police and fire departments, along with American Medical Response, were dispatched to the crash on the 1800 block of West Central Avenue, just past Bailey Avenue, at 9:20 p.m. Monday.
The motorcycle, with two people, crashed into a passenger vehicle critically injuring the pair of riders, police said.
Poynter was the motorcycle driver, police Sgt. Scott Morgan said Friday.
The passenger, a 17-year-old male, also was critically injured in the collision, police added.
The driver of the sedan was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene, police said.
Lompoc police officers were investigating the collision.
Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash, according to the preliminary investigation by police.
