Southern California Edison (SCE) is continuing construction in the Mission Canyon area as part of its Stream Restoration Project, to complete remediation work and restore impacted areas.
While construction work is underway for the Stream Restoration Project, a temporary closure will be in effect at lower Tunnel Trail from the Inspiration Point trailhead at the top of Tunnel Road.
A full closure is necessary to preserve public and employee safety during the construction period, SCE said.
The lower Tunnel Trail closure is projected to begin Thursday, July 25, and will occur in one or more phases for up to six months.
No other front country trails will be closed due to the Stream Restoration Project, SCE reports. Signage will be posted in the Mission Canyon area to notify hikers about the Tunnel Trail closure.
The work is being done in coordination with city, county and environmental regulatory agencies.
