A motorcyclist was fatally injured Wednesday night in a crash on Highway 1 south of Orcutt, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the incident on southbound Highway 1 near the Highway 135 intersection at about 9:25 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The male victim, who reportedly was found down on the roadway in the left-hand lane, was declared dead at the scene, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck told Noozhawk.
Details about the circumstance of the crash were not available, but the motorcyclist was struck by multiple vehicles, Safechuck said.
The victim’s name was not available pending identification and notification of relatives.
The highway was shut down in the area of the incident, which occurred very close to where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed on Saturday.
Authorities on Wednesday identified that victim as Lonell Oliver, 57, of Lompoc.
Wednesday night’s collision was under investigation by the CHP.
