Two new members, Kelly Almeroth and Naomi Dewey, have joined the board of directors of MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation. Also, incumbent board member Justin Anderson has been elected as the board’s new treasurer.

MOXI’s volunteer board of directors works directly with the museum’s president and CEO to oversee and support the organization’s commitment to its mission to ignite learning through interactive experiences in science and creativity.

“MOXI is excited to have two extraordinary women and passionate advocates for science education, accessibility and inclusion join our team,” said Robin Gose, president/CEO of MOXI.

“Kelly and Naomi each bring unique backgrounds, expertise and interests to our board and I am excited to get to work with them as we strive to expand MOXI’s reach throughout our community,” Gose said.

Almeroth is a founding donor of MOXI and served as co-chair of the museum’s annual fundraiser, MOXI@Night, last year. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, and now raising her own family in the city, Almeroth is a long-time volunteer and social justice advocate.

She serves on the Hope School District Educational Foundation Board and as co-chair of the effort to build Gwendolyn’s Playground, the city’s first inclusive playground. Almeroth previously worked in event management, most recently within the College of Engineering at UCSB.

Dewey is founder and partner in Trusted Legal, a boutique law firm with offices in Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez specializing in business, employment, litigation and risk management. Dewey represents clients ranging from government entities to nonprofits, private families, entrepreneurs and business owners.

Her firm is committed to public service and Dewey has volunteered at Teen Court, a program of CADA and the Santa Barbara County Superior Court, and served as an adjunct professor at Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law.

Dewey holds an honors degree in journalism from the University of Sheffield, England and a juris doctor from Santa Barbara College of Law.

Anderson, elected to MOXI’s board of directors in 2019, has joined the board’s executive committee as treasurer. Anderson is managing partner of Santa Barbara-based AmeriFlex Financial Services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics, with an emphasis in accounting, from UCSB. He is also a Certified Financial Planner.

Anderson has taught finance courses at Santa Barbara City College and is an active member of the UCSB Alumni Association, and the Financial Planning Association.
