St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church invites the public to attend A Night of Meditative Sound with Jesse Flower-Ambroch, 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the church, 2901 Nojoqui Ave., Los Olivos.

Inside the church, Flower-Ambroch will lead meditation using a variety of instruments including bells, chimes, singing bowls and voice.

Flower-Ambroch will explain how music is a tool for self-discovery and share some techniques to tap into it through mindful listening. Attendees will be invited to participate in deep breathing exercises and listening techniques, as well as group vocalizations.

Admission is free and donations of any amount are welcome at the door. A complimentary reception to meet Flower-Ambroch will be held after the event.

“Come explore the contemplative, healing, and spiritual powers of music with Jesse for a memorable evening,” said Rev. Dr. Randall Day, St. Mark’s-in-the Valley priest and rector. “We are so pleased to welcome Jesse for this event; he is a member of the Santa Ynez Valley Zen Sangha, a meditation group that now calls St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley its home. ”

Flower-Ambroch is a Santa Ynez resident, life-long musician, meditation leader, sound designer and mixer. He is dedicated to sound exploration through unique, collaborative projects in film, interactive media, arts and sciences.

He has lent his work and presence through numerous avenues including hospice-care facilities, couples in early labor, corporate retreats, private individuals, and groups of all sizes.
