Noon Concerts at Trinity Santa Barbara presents Ravel’s “Piano Trio in A Minor” (1914) 12:15-12:45 p.m., Monday, March 4, with Alyssa Park on violin, Evgeny Tonkha, cello and Vicki Ray, piano.
Ravel composed his “Piano Trio” on the eve of World War I, finishing it in a mere five weeks in late summer of 1914. He enlisted immediately after, but was rejected from combat. Ravel served in the war as an ambulance driver.
The trio takes the listener away from politics and war into a dreamscape of colors and imagination.
Noon Concerts at Trinity Santa Barbara started in December 2017 and ran through December 2019 until COVID interrupted in March 2020. Concerts resumed in April 2022, with a variety of musical styles – jazz, classical, Broadway and popular music.
Admission is free, but goodwill tax-deductible donations are accepted at the door.
