Pacifica Graduate Institute will present Journey Week: When Deep Calls to Deep, an immersive weekend of learning and connection, Friday, Sept. 29-Sunday, Oct. 1.

The conference, focusing on challenges of our times and the need for soulful journeys, aims to foster dialogue, understanding, and collective growth by building bridges of connection within communities.

Journey Week is designed to empower prospective students, LGBTQ+ communities, local business and community members, and individuals from a multitude of backgrounds.

Participants are invited to embark on explorations of the soul. Going beyond the traditional hero’s journey, the event delves into the complexities of collective heroism, diverse communities, inclusive leadership, and sustainable organizational models.

Through discussions, deep reflections, and interactive workshops, attendees will find spaces to connect, learn, and contribute to a culture in crisis.

“I’m looking forward to Journey Week as a time to embrace community, creativity, and
spirituality,” said Dr. Thema Bryant, president of the American Psychological Association. “This gathering is in alignment with my presidential initiatives of equipping people to heal the ongoing realities of trauma, grief and oppression.

“Collectively we can shift from survival mode to thriving and liberation.”

Journey Week presenters and topics they will address include:

Thema Bryant: President of the American Psychological Association
Leonie H. Mattison: President/CEO of Pacifica Graduate Institute
Jaiya John: Founder of Soul Water Rising and author of numerous books, including
Fragrance After Rain
Roland Palencia: Executive Producer of UNIDAD: Gay and Lesbian Latinos Unidos
Susan Rowland: Author and Core Faculty at PGI, recipient of the 2023 C.G. Jung Award
Dick Russell: Award-winning author of the book “The Life and Ideas of James Hillman: Volume III: Soul in the World”
Pacifica core faculty and chairs: Jemma Elliot, Dylan Hoffman, Camille Jarmie Harris, Emily Lord-Kambitsch

“Humanity is at a unique point in our shared history,” said Leonie H. Mattison, CEO/resident of Pacifica Graduate Institute. “Alongside the COVID-19 pandemic, we face a triple planetary emergency — a climate crisis, a mental health crisis, and a social justice crisis.

“These crises create patterns of different traumas that threaten to wound the soul. Neither
evidence-based psychology nor depth psychology alone have the answer.

“Pacifica Graduate Institute is pleased to offer Journey Week, a soul community that unites voices calling for change in a space where people feel heard, held, and nurtured,” Mattison said.

The event will also feature activities such as Stories from the Journey Tour; a Landshark tour of local landmarks; a late-night movie mixer; and a prospective student pizza and psyche lunch.
