A man and woman were arrested earlier this week after “violently attacking” two people in their Vandenberg Village home, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4000 block of Capella Street for a report of a battery, said Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer.

Deputies learned the two suspects, who are familiar with the victims, knocked on the door, and then pushed their way into the home, where they physically attacked the residents — a man and woman, Zick said.

During the attack, Clyde Richardson, 21, brandished a handgun, threatened the male victim, and struck him in the head with the firearm, Zick added.

“Prior to fleeing the residence, the suspects slashed the tires of the victims’ vehicles,” Zick added.

Richardson and his female accomplice, Devon Leininger, 23, fled in a silver Ford Mustang before deputies arrived.

Dispatchers for the Sheriff’s Office shared the suspect information with law enforcement agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, as a be-on-the-lookout for the suspects’ vehicle.

Just before 2 p.m., a CHP officer located the suspects on Central Avenue at D Street in Lompoc, where they were arrested without further incident.

Richardson had a loaded firearm when he was taken into custody, Zick said.

“The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank our partners at the California Highway Patrol for their assistance in apprehending these dangerous suspects,’ Zick added.

Richardson was arrested on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, conspiracy, vandalism, brandishing a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public , possession of a un-serialized “ghost gun,”  possession of a controlled substance while being in possession of a firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm while committing a felony. He also faces several misdemeanor charges, including violation of a restraining order.

Leininger was arrested on suspicion of felony residential burglary, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, criminal threats, conspiracy, vandalism and dissuading a witness. She also faces additional misdemeanor charges.

Both suspects were being held without bail in the Northern Branch Jail.
