Family Service Agency (FSA) and Santa Maria Valley Youth & Family Center (SMVYFC) have announced the winners of its second photography contest depicting images of The Good Life on the Central Coast. This year, Union Bank and the Santa Maria Sun underwrote the contest through their sponsorship.

More than 140 Santa Barbara County residents shared images of life in their local communities. Competition was split into three categories: youth, adult and employee. All submissions will be considered for permanent display in the Santa Maria Valley Youth & Family Center office.

“We are delighted that the entrants included residents from around the county,” said executive director Lisa Brabo. “They represent an amazing perspective of life on the Central Coast, and we look forward to viewing them in our office corridors for a long time.”

Winners in the youth category are: Wil Sillers of Santa Barbara, first place; Erika Figueroa of Santa Barbara, second; Angel Contreras of Santa Barbara, third; and Emily Parker of Santa Maria, honorable mention.

In the adult category, first place went to Rhonda Martinez of Santa Maria; second to Christian Puga Teran of Santa Barbara; and third to Michael Collins of Lompoc.

In the employee category, Nellie Diaz from SMVYFC won first place; Edsel Velasco of Santa Barbara took second; and Emily Reynosa won third.

Family Service Agency of Santa Barbara County, doing business as Santa Maria Youth & Family Center in the Santa Maria Valley, is a nonprofit social service agency that has served the county since 1899.

FSA works to help the community’s most vulnerable children, families, and seniors meet their basic needs while simultaneously addressing secondary mental and behavioral health needs. All services are provided free or on a sliding fee/donation scale, and no one is denied assistance because of an inability to pay.
