Camping reservations at El Capitán State Beach are now available for Aug. 1 through Nov. 30. Camping will be available as usual on a first come, first served basis Dec. 1, 2022 through March 31, 2023.

The El Capitán Entrance Improvements Project will be partially postponed until 2023. Longer-than-expected manufacturing lead times have resulted in some project components being unavailable in 2022.

The entrance trail renovation will begin in October and is expected to be completed in April. This will result in some camping area closures and trail detours.

It is anticipated that the remaining Entrance Improvements Project components will begin in July 2023, fully closing camping at El Capitán State Beach for about nine months.
