Anthony drove in both of those runs, going 2-for-3 on the day.

On the mound, Zeke Adderley got the start and allowed two runs while striking out five across 4 2/3 innings of work.

In the win, Derek Brunet tossed the first seven innings of the game, allowing just one earned run. Jonny Rogers came in for a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win.

Zach Gesswein came up clutch for Dos Pueblos, roping a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to tie it up and send the game into extra innings.

Then, with two outs in the eighth, Taylor Ward came through with a bases-loaded RBI single to walk it off.

In the loss to Foothill, Carter Low and Shane Grant combined for three scoreless innings of relief.

Jesse Di Maggio doubled, singled and scored the lone run of the game for the Chargers. He was driven in by an RBI single off the bat of Charlie Potter.

Dos Pueblos wrapped up the tournament with a record of 2-2.

Valley Christian 8, Cate 0

The Rams had their five-game winning streak snapped by Valley Christian on Thursday at home.

Barron Crayton was the lone Cate hitter with a pair of hits while Peter Lehman, Ethan Gibson and Josh Butler tallied singles.

On the bump, Quinn Pullen went 5 2/3 innings, allowing six unearned runs on four hits while striking out six.

“We were not our best selves yesterday against a good team,” Rams coach David Soto said. “Losses aren’t frustrating but not playing your best can be. The good news is that we have plenty of time to correct our mistakes.

“We’re a young team with all of our goals still in front of us. I have all the confidence in the world that we will get right back to work and get better for league play coming up.”

Cate (5-3) will be on the road against Newbury Park Adventist on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
