San Marcos boys golf had their season come to a close at the SCGA Team and Individual Championships on Wednesday at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.

The Royals competed alongside the top 10 teams in Southern California, with the top three finishers moving on to the State Championship at San Gabriel Country Club next week.

At the end of the day, San Marcos finished 12-over-par as a team to slot into fifth place. The top three teams were Torrey Pines, Classical Academy and Oaks Christian.

Shams Jahangir-Arshad capped off his stellar senior season with a one-under-par performance to lead the Royals.

Meanwhile, the trio of Jeffrey Forster, Austin Downing and Andy Keenan all shot three-over-par and Himmat Singh rounded out the team with his four-over-par performance.

“I’m really proud of how our team did this year,” Jahangir-Arshad said. “We finished second in Division 1, won the CIF-SS qualifying tournament and had so many amazing accomplishments.

“I’m sad to see the season come to an end, but I couldn’t have asked for a better four years of high school golf.”

Dos Pueblos

Teddy Vigna represented the Chargers in the SCGA Individual Championships on Wednesday.

His strong year wrapped up with a five-over-par round, including a pair of birdies to finish off the day.

“[Vigna] was very excited to travel down and compete in such a prestigious high school tournament,” Dos Pueblos coach Kevin Ahlers said. “After the round, he said he was proud of all that he has accomplished this season.”
