Golfers from San Marcos, Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara High competed in the first day of the Channel League Boys Golf Individual Finals on Monday.

The three squads made the trip down to River Ridge Golf Course’s par 72 course in Oxnard, where the top 24 golfers advanced to day two on Tuesday.

San Marcos

Shams Jahangir-Arshad led the Royals and the 48-golfer field after the first day after shooting a five-under-par 67.

San Marcos turned in a great all-around performance as a team, as every golfer made the cut and moved on to the second day of competition.

Joining Jahangir-Arshad for the Royals were Jeffrey Forster (74, +2), Andy Keenan (76, +4), Austin Downing (78, +6), Holdt Gore (79, +7) and Himmat Singh (84, +12).

Dos Pueblos

Meanwhile, the Chargers had a strong day of their own as five golfers will compete on day two.

Teddy Vigna led the way for Dos Pueblos by finishing at an even-par 72 on the day, good for fifth place overall.

Following up Vigna and advancing were Laith Reynolds (75, +3), Scott Nightingale (79, +7), Wyatt Gardiner (80, +8) and Colt Roberts (83, +11).

Santa Barbara High

The Dons rounded out the local squads competing on Monday, seeing four golfers move on to the second day.

Alex Ortega continued his strong season by finishing the day in third place with a one-under-par 71.

After Ortega, Santa Barbara High also advanced Liam Horn (73, +1), Graham Chapman (76, +4) and Elliott Blinderman (87, +15).
