San Marcos High School’s Shams Jahangir-Arshad took over the top spot on the second day of competition at the Santa Barbara City Golf Championship on Sunday.

Sunday was the cut day for the three-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by Santa Barbara Golf Club. The top 25 golfers from the first two days of play will now compete on Monday for the title.

Jahangir-Arshad jumped into first place by following up his one-under-par performance on Saturday with an impressive five-under-par day on Sunday.

Drew Miller sits one stroke behind the Oregon signee in second place while Murphy Scott is four under par through two days to slot into third place.

Meanwhile, Jed Dy, who led after day one, is tied with Bobby Neary at three-under-par for a share of fourth place.

Following Tongun Lako at two-under-par, UCSB’s Ryan Gay and San Marcos High’s Jeffrey Forster advanced to Monday after each shooting one-under-par through two days.

Rounding out the top 10 at even par are Svanberg Stefansson, Dos Pueblos High’s Teddy Vigna and two-time defending champion Leo Metzger.

In the Men’s Net City Championship, each of the three flights were cut down to just 10 golfers advancing to Monday.

Rodney Kiner holds a solid lead in the Palmer Flight at three-over-par, John Somerville and Ted Krejdovsky are tied at 12-over-par atop the Hogan Flight and the Nicklaus Flight is led by Brian Milner at seven-over-par.

The Women’s Net City Championship was cut down to just four golfers, with Sandra Featherson leading the charge at one-over-par through two days.

Featherson will be joined by Norah Dunbar (+5), Jen Sorosky (+6) and Sheri Dean (+6) in Monday’s championship round.
