The Santa Barbara Gay Men’s Chorus (SBGMC) will present its fourth annual winter concert, The Island of Misfit Gays, 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9 at the Lobero Theatre, 33 E. Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara.
This year marks a milestone for the ensemble as they bring their performance to the historic Lobero stage for the first time.
Under the artistic direction of Timothy Accurso, The Island of Misfit Gays will feature an array of genres, including songs from Broadway, Disney, Film, Pop/Rock, and some holiday favorites.
With a live band and choreography, the concert will amplify the community’s voices and celebrate the diversity and creativity of the LGBTQ+ community at large.
“Moving to the Lobero Theatre is a monumental step for us,” said Timothy Accurso, SBGMC artistic director. “When I first took my position with the chorus in 2022, I dreamed of bringing the SBGMC to the stages of Santa Barbara, but I had no idea it would happen so quickly.
“The Lobero provides the perfect opportunity for our organization to grow, and I’m so thankful to everyone for their support of our mission. I can’t wait to witness our singers and band proudly take the stage and share our work with the Santa Barbara community.”
While the concert is currently sold out, tickets may be available on the Lobero Theatre’s website or at the Box Office. A waitlist is being set up for those interested in still attending the show.
