Local string orchestra and chamber music youth education program, Santa Barbara Strings, has appointed two new members to its Board of Directors, Kyle Abello and Sherylle Mills Englander; and welcomed acclaimed local pianist Pascal Salomon as its director of piano chamber music.

Abello previously served as the Buellton Parks and Recreation coordinator, in addition to serving on the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School Board of Trustees.

Englander, an accomplished flutist, is an attorney and executive director for Strategic Initiatives and Operations at the California NanoSystems Institute.

Auditions for the Santa Barbara Strings’ upcoming season will occur in person, 1-6 p.m. Aug. 25 at El Montecito Presbyterian Church, 1455 East Valley Road, Santa Barbara; or via video submission by Aug. 19.

The 2024/2025 season starts in September.
