A pair of brothers have been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in Santa Maria late Saturday night, Santa Barbara County District Attorney John Savrnoch announced Tuesday.
The criminal complaint charges Victoriano Lopez Feliciano, 27, with one count of murder plus special allegations of personally and intentionally discharging a firearm causing death, personal use of a firearm, and lying in wait.
The complaint also charges Gabriel Victoriano Lopez Feliciano, 32, with murder and a special allegation of lying in wait. He is charged in a separate incident with criminal threats against the shooting victim on July 19.
The criminal complaint named the shooting victim as Paulina Lopez Gonzalez, 37.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, Santa Maria Police officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 1200 block of West Main Street, near Blosser Road, police said.
Upon arrival, officers located a woman with life-threatening injuries.
She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
On Sunday, Santa Maria detectives, in collaboration with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, located and arrested two individuals in connection with the shooting homicide.
Two brothers, both of Santa Maria, were located in Taft, on the western edge of Kern County, at approximately 6 p.m. and taken into custody without incident.
Victoriano Lopez Feliciano is also charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 years old for conduct involving a Jane Doe in 2024, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Both defendants were scheduled for arraignment in Santa Maria Superior Court but the arraignment hearing was continued to Aug. 25.
They are both being held in Santa Barbara County’s Northern Branch Jail without bail.
