The Santa Maria Utilities Department is offering Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) trappers and other related complimentary items for city of Santa Maria residents at a distribution event, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 25 in front of Trader Joe’s, 1303 S. Bradley Road.

The FOG T]trappers are ideal for safely disposing of fats, oils and grease used in the kitchen, the city said.

The promotion helps encourage the safe disposal of fats, oils, and grease, and reminds residents to never put fats, oils, and grease down the drain because they can clog pipes and back up sewer lines, the city said.

There is a limit of one trapper per household, while supplies last. Proof of address is required.
