A Santa Maria man has been identified as the person who died after a shooting at a party last weekend.

At approximately 12:20 a.m. Oct. 21, officers with the Santa Maria Police Department and other emergency personnel responded to a report of multiple shots fired on the 1000 block of North School Street, police Lt. Daniel Rios said.

The shooting at a large backyard party killed an adult male and wounded three other people.

An altercation occurred before the shooting that injured multiple people, Rios said.

Killed in the shooting was Arthur Pichardo, 20, police said Thursday.

The other three victims, one juvenile and two adults, had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, Rios said Thursday.

They were all medically treated, released, and expected to fully recover, Rios said.

This is still an active and ongoing investigation, Rios said.

“Arthur Pichardo was a beloved son, brother and friend, whose presence made a difference to the lives of those around him,” the site says. “He touched the hearts of all who knew him with his smile, laughter, and love.

“Our beloved Arthur has left us all too soon, and the weight of this unexpected loss is immeasurable.”

As of Thursday afternoon, the site had raised more than $4,300 toward the $15,000 goal.
