The Santa Ynez Valley Concert series will present its fourth Young Artist Showcase, 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at St. Mark’s in-the-Valley Church, 2901 Nojoqui Ave., Los Olivos.

The free concert will feature students, ages 21 and under, from private teaching studios in Santa Barbara County, who were recommended by their respective teachers for this special honor.

“Music education is at the forefront of the mission of the Santa Ynez Valley Concert Series,” said Robert Cassidy, artistic director. “Due to increasing popularity, this season we are presenting both fall and spring Young Artist Showcases featuring solo performances.

“This is a wonderful event for the whole family. Music is alive and living in Santa Barbara County,” he said.

No tickets are required to attend the concert.

The private teachers who nominated students for the event are: Vahid and Kathryn Imani from Song in My Heart Studios in Solvang; Deborah Mele from Santa Barbara; Julie Davies from Santa Barbara, Vera Kong from Santa Barbara, William Spiller from San Luis Obispo, Natasha Kislenko from Santa Barbara, Lynn Oliverius from San Luis Obispo, and Robert Cassidy from Santa Barbara.
