The Santa Maria Public Library and its four branch libraries (Cuyama, Guadalupe, Los Alamos and Orcutt) will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 28, for staff training. The regular schedule of service at all branches will resume on Thursday, Aug. 29.

The training will provide library staff with exposure to current strategies and practices that will enable them to better serve the library’s clientele. As usual, the library’s website will be available for access to online resources, item renewals and patron account information.

Exterior book return drop boxes will be available and open at all locations. Library items may be renewed (if eligible for renewal) by phone by calling 1-800-354-9660.

Black Gold libraries in the greater area that will be open for service are as follows:

Arroyo Grande Library: 800 W. Branch St., 10 a.m.-6 p.m., 805-473-7161.
Lompoc Public Library: 501 E. North Ave., 10 a.m.-7 p.m., 805-875-8775.
Nipomo Library: 918 W. Tefft St., 10 a.m.-6 p.m., 805-929-3994.

The library staff thanks patrons in advance for their understanding. Direct questions to the Public Library’s administrative office, 805-925-0994 ext. 2321.
