The Marjorie Luke Theatre will present the premiere of “Saving the Foothills,” Sunday, Oct. 5 as part of its Green Film Series at the Marjorie Luke, 731 E. Cota St., Santa Barbara.
The event blends environmental storytelling, live music, cultural reflection, and community dialogue.

“Saving the Foothills,” directed by Cody Westheimer, chronicles the community-led effort to preserve 100 acres of the West Mesa of the San Marcos Foothills from development.
The film highlights the passion, resilience and dedication of local activists who united to protect and restore this vital landscape for future generations.
In addition to the film screening, the program will feature:
Shakuhachi Music – traditional Japanese flute performance by Westheimer, weaving unique music into the spirit of the evening.
Post Film Discussion & Q&A – moderated by Geoff Green, representatives from the Chumash, Channel Islands Restoration and others, along with filmmaker Westheimer.
Closing Chumash Prayer led by Marianne Parra.
The Marjorie Luke Theatre’s Green Film Series is designed to spark awareness and dialogue around today’s most urgent environmental challenges.
