From The Home & Closet, a boutique consignment shop, has opened at 3411 State St. in San Roque Plaza with a bit of a twist.

Unlike some other local consignment businesses, each month From The Home & Closet will select a nonprofit organization and donate a percentage of its sales in support of the nonprofit’s mission. The first nonprofit to benefit is Santa Barbara Volleyball Club.

From The Home & Closet’s consignment inventory includes mens and womens clothing, small furniture, and homegoods. A grand opening is planned for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 24. The shop held a soft opening on Aug. 6.

Consignors can bring items into the store, and workers there will determine if the items are saleable. For convenience sake, it is suggested that people wanting to sell small furniture send an email including a photo to fromthehomeandcloset@gmail.com.
